Regionale Wasserstoffstrategie SüdwestBW
Hydrogen as a location safeguard for companies in the region

For South Baden as a business location, integration into a European energy supply structure is essential – and hydrogen from renewable sources is becoming an increasingly decisive location factor. In order for the development of a cross-border hydrogen infrastructure (France-Switzerland-Germany) to succeed, it must be actively shaped and accelerated.

This is precisely where the Regional Hydrogen Strategy SouthwestBW comes in: Under the leadership of Klimapartner Südbaden, a broad alliance of districts, cities, energy suppliers and business associations has drawn up a roadmap for the hydrogen ramp-up in the border triangle. The strategy strengthens the dialog with the state and shows how regional players can play an active role in shaping the ramp-up. The Regional Hydrogen Strategy SouthwestBW was presented to the Ministry of the Environment on November 8th.

Represented in the Association of Hydrogen Regions

Since spring 2026, Dr. Fabian Burggraf, Managing Director of Klimapartner Südbaden, has represented the hydrogen region of the Regional Hydrogen Strategy SouthwestBW — from the High Rhine region through the Ortenau district to Lake Constance — in the Association of Hydrogen Regions (BdWR). In doing so, the region has joined a strong voice that brings the interests of hydrogen regions into federal politics.
