A major success for the region: two projects by 3H2 partners have been awarded funding under the ELY program!

The ELY funding program run by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment supports the construction of eight new local electrolysers with integrated concepts for the production of renewable hydrogen for regional supply. The funding awards were announced at a ceremony in Stuttgart on December 17, 2025.

Firstly, 3H2 partner fischer Edelstahlrohre GmbH from Achern can look forward to receiving funding. The company plans to set up its own energy ecosystem with two wind turbines to generate electricity for the plant and its own electrolysis process, which in turn produces hydrogen for a wide range of uses in the plant. Of particular interest to fischer is the use of safe metal hydride storage systems, which fischer manufactures together with its partner GRZ Technology AG. In this way, the fischer group is pursuing a holistic approach to reducing energy costs, significantly lowering CO2 emissions, and ensuring the plant’s security of supply. On the other hand, the HYDROPORTKEHL project from 3H2 partner RMA Kehl GmbH & Co. KG is receiving funding, which, together with project partners Hafenverwaltung Kehl KdöR and badenova AG & Co. KG, is establishing a regional hydrogen ecosystem in the port of Kehl for the first time. The aim is to achieve an economical, scalable entry into the hydrogen economy through sector coupling of industry, mobility, and heating. An 1 MW electrolyzer is expected to produce 80 tons of H2 per year.
