The Rhine port of Kehl is located in the heart of Europe, in the immediate vicinity of the Alsatian metropolis of Strasbourg. Here on the Rhine—at the intersection of the most important transport routes for European trade.

The Rhine port of Kehl offers perfect infrastructure and all the advantages of a modern public inland port, thus providing optimal conditions for the establishment of an H2 cluster.

An H2 infrastructure is to be created in the industrial area and port of Kehl to meet the future needs of the companies based there. The energy-intensive industrial companies Badische Stahlwerke and the paper manufacturer Koehler have already signed a letter of intent expressing their interest in large quantities of H2. Other local mechanical engineering, industrial, and electrical engineering companies will also be involved. In addition, the connection to Strasbourg plays an important role.
