As the largest bicantonal business association in Northwestern Switzerland, the Basel Chamber of Commerce has been working for years to ensure the security of energy supplies. Green hydrogen can play an important role here. This is why the Chamber of Commerce is committed to creating the necessary framework conditions. As a mouthpiece for economic policy and a driving force, the Basel Area Chamber of Commerce is advancing the economic region. Hydrogen can not only play a key role in climate protection, but can also become an important location factor for companies in the Basel region. The Chamber of Commerce is therefore committed to ensuring that the region is ready for the future of hydrogen and is lobbying politicians to this end. Infrastructures such as connecting the Upper Rhine region to the European Hydrogen Backbone, a Europe-wide pipeline infrastructure for hydrogen with a total length of around 53,000 kilometers, are also central to this. In order to achieve this goal and to join forces in the Upper Rhine region, the Chamber of Commerce has co-founded the 3H2 initiative.
The Basel Chamber of Commerce takes the lead when it comes to organizing the 3H2 Forums in Switzerland. The annual forum takes place every year, rotating between France, Switzerland and Germany.
