Hochrheinkommission
Cross-border partnership

The Hochrheinkommission (Upper Rhine Commission) HRK is a partnership-based institution dedicated to strengthening cross-border cooperation in the Upper Rhine region. It promotes and organizes contact and the exchange of experiences between its partners, institutions, and citizens. In addition, it addresses future-oriented topics at an early stage and provides impetus for strengthening and further developing the border region.
The HRK plays a proactive role in networking relevant actors and supporting forward-looking projects, making use of opportunities offered by the European Interreg funding program, among other things. In addition, it collects, coordinates, and evaluates information relevant to the border region—particularly on topics such as energy, climate change, and sustainable regional development.

By joining the Trinational Hydrogen Initiative 3H2, the HRK is contributing to its role as a cross-border platform and supporting the development of a cross-border hydrogen economy in the border triangle. The partnership enables the HRK to actively participate in the flow of information, knowledge transfer, and networking in the field of hydrogen, while also contributing its own networks.

The energy transition can only succeed if we work together – and it does not stop at national borders. As the Hochrheinkommission, we have been connecting stakeholders from Germany and Switzerland for many years. The partnership with 3H2 is therefore a logical and sensible step: it combines our regional strength in cross-border cooperation with a strong trinational network that is also promoting hydrogen development as part of the energy transition in the Upper Rhine region. Together, we are creating visibility, exchange, and the basis for concrete projects.
