Review: On 30.01.2025 – organized by H2 Regio e.V., Klimapartner Südbaden and 3H2 – members of the committees for the environment, climate and energy industry as well as for economy, labour and tourism of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament and other members of parliament from the region came together to discuss the topic “Hydrogen – key to decarbonization in South Baden”.

Fabian Burggraf and Christian Klaiber presented the regional hydrogen strategy and the numerous regional H2 projects that have already been launched. Julie Weiss (badenovaNETZE GmbH) vividly illustrated that we must seize the great opportunity of the hydrogen pipelines planned in our region. Hans-Peter Fischer (Fischer Group) emphasized the relevance of building a hydrogen infrastructure for industry in order to secure the region as a sustainable business location. Despite the large number of hydrogen seed cells in our region, it was clearly communicated that a variety of challenges and hurdles are severely delaying the development of the hydrogen economy. A clear call to action to state politicians to set the course here. Only if industry and politics work together to drive forward the hydrogen ramp-up will it be possible to sustainably maintain South Baden as a business location and play an important pioneering role in the field of hydrogen.
