Schwarzwald Baar Kreis
The Schwarzwald-Baar district is a local authority with 217,181 inhabitants in Baden-Württemberg. The district belongs to the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region in the Freiburg administrative district.

The Schwarzwald-Baar district lies halfway between Stuttgart and Lake Constance, and is in close proximity to Switzerland and France. The twin towns of Villingen-Schwenningen are the economic and cultural center. With a population of 85,915, the regional center is by far the largest town in the district.
The Schwarzwald-Baar district is a political entity whose borders were established during the district reform of 1973. The border points in the southern area extend from the German-Swiss Toll near Blumberg for a short distance along Switzerland, but primarily along the districts of Waldshut and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald.
