RWE Generation SE
Green hydrogen is seen as the key to the energy transition. Together with partners from associations and corporations, the energy company RWE is therefore currently driving forward around 30 green hydrogen projects in Europe with numerous demonstration and test facilities. One of these projects is called “H2@Hydro”, which aims to produce green hydrogen on the Upper Rhine using hydropower.

RWE is shaping and setting the pace in the green energy world. With a comprehensive investment and growth strategy, the company is expanding its high-performance, green generation capacity internationally to 50 gigawatts by 2030. RWE is investing more than 50 billion euros in this decade. The portfolio is based on offshore and onshore wind, solar, hydropower, hydrogen, storage, biomass and gas. The energy trading business creates customized energy solutions for key accounts. RWE has locations in the attractive markets of Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region. The company is responsibly phasing out nuclear energy and coal. State-prescribed phase-out paths have been defined for both energy sources. RWE employs around 19,000 people worldwide and has a clear goal: climate neutrality by 2040. On the way there, the company has set itself ambitious targets for all activities that cause greenhouse gas emissions. The targets have been scientifically confirmed by the Science Based Targets Initiative and are in line with the Paris Climate Agreement. In line with the purpose: Our energy for a sustainable life.
RWE’s hydrogen business is managed by the subsidiary RWE Generation SE. Hydrogen plays a crucial role for the company, as it is seen as the energy source of the future and therefore supports the Group’s goal of climate neutrality by 2040.
RWE is already involved in around 30 hydrogen projects with other partner companies that focus on the development of an international, sustainable hydrogen economy. One of these is H2@Hydro on the Upper Rhine.
