Regio Basiliensis
By breaking down existing barriers and border obstacles, living and working together in everyday life in the border regions can be improved and the use of shared potential can be facilitated. This is the purpose and task of the Regio Basiliensis association. The topics of environment, energy, sustainability and climate protection are decisive for the development of the border region in the coming years and will help shape the future of the next generation. Hydrogen offers great potential in this context.

Regio Basiliensis is the Swiss partner for Upper Rhine cooperation and the competence center of choice for promoting cross-border cooperation in the Upper Rhine region. It is at the service of politics, authorities, business, science, organizations and the population. Its purpose is to provide impetus from the Swiss side for the development of the Upper Rhine region into a cohesive European border region and to contribute to its realization.
Founded in 1963, Regio Basiliensis is on the one hand an association that today has around 400 members. On the other hand, it also fulfills state functions in terms of small foreign policy for the north-western Swiss cantons of Aargau, Basel-Landschaft, Basel-Stadt, Jura and Solothurn.
Regio Basiliensis is committed to an effective, cross-border coordinated environmental, energy and climate protection policy in the Upper Rhine region. Regional players must be recognized and actively networked in their important role as stakeholders, shapers and implementers. The exchange of experience and the identification of joint approaches with neighboring countries are of particular importance and offer enormous opportunities. Balanced coordination of energy, environmental and climate protection policies is a cornerstone for a cross-border environment worth living in. The legal basis in the three countries must also meet this requirement and offer the possibility of cross-border cooperation. At the same time, the population must be sensitized to implementation measures.
