Landkreis Tuttlingen, Landkreis Rottweil, Schwarzwald-Baar Kreis, and the Regionalverband Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg join 3H2
Closing ranks on hydrogen: Districts and Chamber of Commerce push for connection to hydrogen infrastructure.

The Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region is to be supplied with hydrogen in the best possible way. The districts and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) are therefore intensifying their cooperation with the “Trinational Hydrogen Initiative 3H2.” The common goal is to connect the region to the planned state and federal hydrogen network in the best possible way. In addition to electricity and gas, hydrogen would strengthen the energy supply of companies and commercial sites as an additional component. The initiative is now developing a strategy for supply in the southwest.

“Hydrogen can play an important role as a versatile and environmentally friendly energy source. Whether in the field of medical technology or in the automotive sector,” says Stefan Bär, District Administrator of Landkreis Tuttlingen. Hydrogen could become a building block for a successful future for companies between Heuberg and Hegau. For example, in the energy supply of their own premises. Cooperation is crucial for this. Bär: “To achieve this, we must push ahead with the necessary infrastructure now!”

The district authorities and Chamber of Industry and Commerce welcomed Heinz-Werner Hölscher, CEO of badenova AG, for a strategy meeting. Together with Dr. Fabian Burggraf, Managing Director of the Klimapartner Südbaden association, he outlined further cooperation with the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region. “We want to attract more members to our cross-border initiative. This will enable us to strengthen the exchange of experience between companies, initiate more cooperation, and obtain practical examples of the use of hydrogen.” Together with partners from Switzerland and France, the initiative could then participate in EU projects and those of the governments in Paris, Berlin, and Bern. Hölscher and Burggraf emphasized in unison: “The trinational network is strong. It brings together research, local authorities, and small and medium-sized enterprises. Now it needs to grow.” Then the southwest will also be taken into account in state and federal infrastructure planning.
