3H2-On the spot #5: Into space with hydrogen at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR)
On 30 October 2025, we visited the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) to see its comprehensive hydrogen infrastructure.

Review: At the fifth edition of our ‘3H2-On the spot’ event series on 30 October, we were able to gain an insight into the work of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) in Lampoldshausen together with numerous 3H2 partners.

The centre has been testing hydrogen-powered rocket engines for 60 years and, thanks to its decades of experience, offers a high-performance hydrogen infrastructure where companies, among others, can test their technologies.

Together with the H2 Container Technikum, the Lampoldshausen site is establishing a modular and flexible test environment for hydrogen technologies. The aim is to collaborate with industry and research partners to assess and enhance the entire hydrogen value chain, facilitating the rapid transfer of technology from research to application.

At ‘3H2 On the Spot’, our partners were able to experience for themselves how impressive this can look in practice. We would like to thank the entire DLR team, especially Dr. Daniela Lindner and Fabian Jörg, for the warm welcome and the exciting tour! Thanks also to our partner network H2 Regio e.V., with whom we organised this joint event.
