HyInHeat
HyInHeat | Hydrogen technologies for decarbonization of industrial heating processes

HyInHeat is implementing efficient hydrogen combustion systems to decarbonize heating and melting processes in the aluminium and steel industry, covering almost the entire process chain. To achieve this overarching goal, furnaces and equipment such as burners or measurement and control technology, as well as the infrastructure, are being redesigned, modified and implemented in eight demonstrators in technical centers and industrial plants as part of the project.

  • The HyInHeat project is an initiative funded by the European Union as part of the Horizon Europe research and innovation program with a total budget of 24 million euros.
  • The project aims to promote the introduction of hydrogen as a fuel source for high-temperature heating processes in energy-intensive industries such as the steel and aluminum industries.
  • The project consortium consists of 30 partners from 12 countries across Europe, including universities, research institutions and industrial partners.
  • The project will run for 4 years, from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2026.
  • The use of hydrogen as a fuel source for high-temperature heating processes has the potential to significantly reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency in energy-intensive industries, which account for a significant share of global carbon emissions.
