VERBUND Green Hydrogen GmbH is part of VERBUND, Austria’s leading energy company and one of the largest producers of electricity from hydropower in Europe.
As a comprehensive decarbonization partner to industry, it secures European business locations by reliably supplying customers with both green electricity and green hydrogen. Against this backdrop, VERBUND is actively promoting the development of the green hydrogen economy.
In the short term, the focus is on expanding local hydrogen production, particularly for the decarbonization of energy-intensive industries in the core countries of Austria, Germany, and Spain.
Specifically, VERBUND is working with industrial partners on various projects, with production at customer sites ensuring immediate, reliable availability of green hydrogen.
In order to meet European hydrogen demand in the long term, VERBUND is working on establishing a diversified import project portfolio. Large quantities of green hydrogen are to be produced in European countries and neighboring regions of Europe and transported to the major European consumption centers via pipeline.
Hydrogen requires reliable European players along the entire value chain – and this is precisely what 3H2 brings together. For VERBUND, this opens up the opportunity to intensively support industry in southwestern Germany as a proven decarbonization partner and to achieve our goals for the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy in Germany.
