EEW Energy from Waste Saarbrücken GmbH
The Energy from Waste Group plans, builds and operates waste recycling and disposal plants. With a total of 17 plants in Germany and neighbouring countries, EEW specializes in the thermal treatment of waste and substitute fuels and develops concepts for the production of hydrogen from waste materials.

Around 237 million tons of municipal waste are generated in Europe every year. While a large proportion of municipal waste in Germany is already recycled thermally and used to generate energy, more than 54 million tons continue to be disposed of in landfills in the EU. As a leading company in the generation of electricity and heat through thermal waste recycling and disposal, EEW is working to ensure that the outdated landfill model will soon be obsolete throughout Europe.
EEW Energy from Waste is already making an important contribution to climate and resource protection. In the Group’s 17 modern plants, EEW is able to recover energy from around 5 million tons of waste every year and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner. The energy contained in the waste is used efficiently and generates process steam for industrial plants, district heating for residential areas and environmentally friendly electricity for the equivalent of around 700,000 households. And even the waste from the incinerated waste – mostly slag – is used in road construction, among other things.
