A wide alliance of counties and business associations – under the leadership of the KlimaRapartner Südbaden – has developed a timetable for the hydrogen wheal in the border triangle: the regional hydrogen strategy SüdwestBW. The background is the urgently needed connection to the future remote control network and the establishment of regional generation capacities. This must ensure the future supply of hydrogen generated from regenerative sources, which becomes a decisive location factor.
On Friday, November 8th. State Secretary Dr. Andre Baumann countered the strategy paper on the edge of the European hydrogen summit in Strasbourg.
With the aim of securing the supply of the local companies with green hydrogen-and thus the business location in the southwest of Baden-Württemberg-a supply strategy for regional companies with regeneratively generated hydrogen including a implementation roadmap was developed. In addition to the initiator group from Chamber of Industry and Commerce and regional associations, all 12 counties are committed to this in the regional backdrop of southern Upper Rhine, Hochrhein-Bodensee and Black Forest-Baar-Heuberg. Under the leadership of the Klimpartner Südbaden e.V., companies from industry and logistics as well as the energy industry also worked in talks and workshops on solution ideas.
In order for the hydrogen highcase to begin in concrete terms, the actors have identified existing implementation projects within the strategy process and some of them initiated new ones. Based on an elevation of regional hydrogen requirements, techno-Ökoma modeling was carried out in strategy development in order to define suitable locations for decentralized hydrogen production.
In addition to suitable investment grants, reliable political guidelines for planning security are now missing. The signature of the strategy of state and federal politics hope that these framework conditions are created promptly.

With its hydrogen strategy, the Southwest region has laid an important basis for future development and for the energy transition in the southwest. We are happy to support and accompany the implementation. The state government will continue to work with all strength for the fastest possible connection of the region to the hydrogen removal network to be built. This requires the shoulder of all actors. We also want to promote regional solutions with electrolysers if the state parliament provides the necessary budget funds.
